When we spoke with our financial advisor about who we selected to build our first new home, the first thing he said was, "the builder must be good if he made it through your selection criteria". We initially considered approximately five builders and ultimately selected David Blair Homes. High construction quality, contractor/subcontractor reliability, exceptional integrity (several times David caught errors where we could have overpaid for an item), very competitive construction price, and quick to resolve issues to our satisfaction, was the mode of operation every day. David was often the first to catch subtle mistakes that we probably wouldn't have noticed, yet he immediately brought them to our attention even though they sometimes cost him additional time and money.

David listened carefully to us and clearly understood our requirements and priorities. He reviewed our plans and identified plan errors and design flaws. He suggested areas where we could save money and still meet our objectives for quality and custom details and offered his wife's (Jill) design and fixture selection assistance. David pro-actively addressed typical first time building concerns by implementing appropriate contractual procedures. He did this to assure us that we would not run into problems that customers often experience with other builders. We also made numerous changes/upgrades throughout construction as our vision became more focused. David was very flexible in accepting our change requests and frequently suggested changes of his own that often resulted in better design and saved money.

Looking back, the only mistake we made that cost us unnecessary time and money was not involving David early on in our house plans. We would suggest involving David early in the planning process in order to take advantage of his sage advice.

Thanks to both David and Jill, we truly had an interesting and enjoyable first home building experience.

We were looking for a home that had a more open design, with high ceilings and a pretty interior. The house we bought from David Blair had all that and more.
